Hold My Hand

Whew! As I prepare to release my fourth book I’ve found that I really had to push myself to get this one completed. The heart issue that I deal with is still tender for me. I wonder if it’s still tender for others as well. I talk about my mom in this book and some memories that I have from my childhood. She passed away in 2011 and it’s only recently that I began bringing up conversations about her. Good conversations tho.
I was going through some of notebooks this week to determine which book I was going to release next. “Hold My Hand” comes out June 2nd and I’m eager to keep the momentum going. While searching through my notebooks I found my mothers story. It was one she had been writing before she passed away. Wow. That not only added a chapter to my book that’s about to be released but it opened up another opportunity. I have the opportunity to publish my mom’s book. Yup…….as you can imagine I became a little emotional.
Here’s why it is so emotional for me.

When you are in Leadership you are ultimately holding the hand of those following you. You guide them through a process, an idea or obstacle by sharing your own personal journey. Good leadership gives examples but great leadership shows the scars and battle wounds they received during the journey. Now don’t get me wrong……..not all leaders are transparent but the ones who are see much more growth in the ones they are leading.

What does all this have to do with my mommy’s notebook? Well, as a leader in our family (I’m the oldest of six) I have the opportunity to hold her hand from the grave. Wow. I get to finish her story and put her name out there as an author. As a leader I get to hold the hand of an ancestor. Telling her story would be a honor for me much like those who scribe the history books.

Now a few of you reading this may feel like this is creepy. That’s okay. I’m use to people seeing me as an out of the box thinker and doer. Hear me out tho. By you being in leadership what doors are you opening for others. As the leader of your house what opportunities have you made available for your children, your spouse or even your pets? As a leader at your job how have you created change for someone else? This will be no different.

I’ll keep you guys updated on when the book will be released. I know it may be an emotional journey but it’s a journey I’m willing to take. Who knows………….maybe my mommy passed away while writing a New York Times best seller. ☺️

There are more details about the discovery of my mommy’s notebook in my new book now available for preorder.  Hold My Hand is $.99 and will be released on June 2, 2017. Also, I talked a little more about it recently in periscope. Click here to catch the replay Graveyard Stories

Until next time. Don’t forget that #OurVoiceMatters
